INTERNATIONAL DESK: Afghanistan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said that the ongoing conflict between the Afghan government and the Taliban has made over fifty thousand families leave their homes this year and 14 thousand of these families have been displaced in the past 15 days across the country.
Ever since the United States began their remaining 2500 soldiers’ evacuation over two months ago, the Taliban increased their offensive and toppled the territories which were not under their control in past.
The situation behooved the Afghan government for counterattacks which caused heavy conflict and finally led to thousands of families leave their homes behind and seek refuge in secure places, Afghanistan based news agency Khaama Press reported.
The families have not only been relocated to the capital cities of their respective provinces but also to Kabul.
The Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation says that they are capable to provide the homeless people with shelter and food but warns on the other hand not to be able once the number of displaced families surge.
The Ministry estimates the number of displaced families to rise in the future.
Southern Kandahar is a province with the highest number of internal refugees who are suffering from different problems including heat, lack of shelter and food and their homes being looted back in their residences.
