Riot Games has officially launched the Early Access period for its highly anticipated team-based fighter, 2XKO. The release is headlined by the Season 0 update, introducing significant balance changes and new content. Players can now dive into the game on PC, with progress set to carry over to future console versions.
This marks the first time the game is widely accessible following a closed beta phase. According to Riot Games, the update focuses on refining core mechanics based on player feedback and establishing a foundation for the game’s competitive future.
New Champions and Content Headline the Update
The 2XKO Season 0 patch notes confirm the arrival of two new playable champions. Teemo joins the roster as a zoning specialist, using poisonous mushrooms and darts to control space. Warwick enters the fray as a relentless hunter, utilizing a unique Bloodlust mechanic to empower his attacks.
A new Combo Trials system has been implemented to help players learn over 250 champion-specific combos. Completing these trials rewards in-game currency. The update also adds new thematic stages, Bandlewood Crossing and Firelight Run, to customize matches.
Core Gameplay Receives Significant Tuning
Based on data from the Closed Beta, Riot has implemented sweeping system adjustments. Key changes target mechanics like Double Down and Super Tag to create a more balanced meta. Meter gain has been adjusted, and the advantage state after a “Break” has been reduced.
Ranked mode is scheduled to go live shortly after the Early Access launch. The development team has tuned the matchmaking system to prioritize fairer matches, which may result in slightly longer queue times. Several bug fixes have also been deployed to improve overall stability.
