ZOOMBANGLA DESK: Four Chinese nationals were arrested on Thursday allegedly after looting Taka 50 Lakh from Uttara in the capital city Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy commissioner for Uttara division Morshed Alam told the national Bangla daily Samakal that they arrested the four Chinese nationals by conducting raids at city’s Baridhara and Uttara area.
He said that the four Chinese nationals have been taken under police custody to grill them.
According to a case filed with Uttara West Police Station, Chinese national Li Wen Jing along with her Bangladeshi husband Shah Jahangir run a restaurant on Road 8 under Uttara 3 No. Sector. Recently Li Wen Jing agreed to give Tk. 50 lakh to Chen Yong for supplying Chinese goods to her through another Chinese national Jilin.
On Wednesday (November 2) evening Jilin was waiting at Li Wen Jing’s restaurant to handover Tk 50 Lakh to Chen Yong. Suddenly several Chinese nationals entered the restaurant and introduced themselves as the representatives of Chen Yong. They asked Jilin to give the money to them. Jilin denied giving the money without the presence of Chen Yong. At one stage the gang of Chinese nationals looted the money from him and fled the scene.
