    ACET Launches 2026 Young Leaders in Research Grant for Early-Career African Experts

    The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) has opened applications for its 2026 Young Leaders in Research (YLR) Grant. This initiative targets early-career African researchers in economics and related fields. The deadline for submissions is November 21, 2025.

    Young African Researchers Grant

    The 12-month grant is designed to support policy-relevant research that drives Africa’s transformation. It provides funding and mentorship to elevate the work of young scholars.

    Grant Offers Substantial Support for Africa’s Next Research Leaders

    Selected young researchers will receive a grant of up to $15,000. This funding supports original research on one of four key themes for 2026. The themes are Gender Equality, Regional Integration, Innovation & Digital Policy, and Green Industrial Transformation.

       

    Beyond financial backing, the program offers professional development. Participants gain mentorship from ACET Senior Fellows and opportunities for peer learning. Their research may also be published and presented at prominent events.

    Program Aims to Shape Continent’s Economic Future

    The YLR grant is firmly aligned with ACET’s Growth with DEPTH framework. This strategy focuses on Diversification, Export Competitiveness, Productivity, Technology, and Human Well-being. The goal is to foster structural economic transformation across Africa.

    This initiative empowers a new generation of thinkers. It ensures that Africa’s development is guided by evidence-based, homegrown solutions. The research produced will directly influence policymaking for a more prosperous continent.
