But it is also a country defined by survival, by fortitude, by gentle faces and a zest for something better. It is the type of place where strangers offer you their last piece of bread, poetic souls guide you through the ancient streets and time staring into dark skies is time earned and gained, never time lost.
You can forget it is a beautiful country. A beautiful country beneath the bloodshed.
A few snaps wandering through the Kabul streets tonight show us that while impending doom clings to the warm air, life does go on. Nobody wants war, everybody wants to feed their families and survive.
