ZOOMBANGLA DESK: Awami League has nominated Dr Pran Gopal Datta, former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), for the Cumilla-7 by-polls, BSS reports.
Office Secretary of AL Barrister Biplob Barua said the decision came from a meeting of the AL’s Parliamentary Board and Local Government Representative Nomination Board with party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the
chair.
He said Professor Dr Pran Gopal Datta’s nomination was confirmed at the meeting held at the official residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today.
The by-election to Cumilla-7 constituency, that fell vacant with the death of parliamentarian Professor Ali Ashraf, is scheduled to take place on October 7.
Professor Pran Gopal Datta is currently holding the post of vice president of Cumilla North AL.
