Aldi Recalls Chocolate Snack With ‘Do Not Eat’ Warning: Key Details Explained

Aldi has issued an urgent recall of its popular Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s chocolate snack after it was found to pose a potential health risk to people with peanut allergies. The supermarket has urged customers not to eat the product and to return it immediately for a full refund.

The recall was announced on Saturday, November 1, 2025, after concerns were raised that the chocolates may contain peanuts that were not correctly listed on the packaging. This could make the product dangerous for consumers with severe allergies.

Aldi Recalls Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s After Allergen Warning

The affected item, Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s, has been taken off shelves across Aldi stores in the UK. The supermarket stated that the recall was a “precautionary measure” after discovering that traces of peanuts might be present in the chocolates, despite not being declared on the ingredient label.

Aldi released a public notice, saying: “As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s because they may contain peanuts. Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given. We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation.”

Nut allergy advocacy group Anaphylaxis UK also issued a statement confirming that it had been informed of the recall. The organisation advised that “anyone with an allergy or intolerance to peanuts should avoid consuming this product.”

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), around 2.4 million adults in the UK suffer from food allergies, while about one in 50 children has a peanut allergy. These statistics underscore the seriousness of accurate food labelling and allergen awareness.

    Health Concerns and Industry Response

Peanut allergies can trigger severe and potentially life-threatening reactions, even from tiny traces of the allergen. Symptoms can include swelling, shortness of breath, dizziness, and anaphylaxis — a medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Researchers at the University of Southampton have found that early introduction of peanut products into babies’ diets could help reduce allergy rates by up to 77%. However, for those already diagnosed, even minimal exposure can be dangerous, reinforcing why such recalls are critical for consumer safety.

This is not the first time Aldi has faced an allergen-related recall in 2025. Earlier in October, the supermarket recalled Gianni’s Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream due to undeclared wheat on its label, which posed a risk for individuals with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance.

    Customer Instructions and Refund Process

Aldi customers who have purchased Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s are advised not to consume the product under any circumstances. Instead, they should bring the chocolates back to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund, with no receipt required.

The supermarket reiterated that customer safety remains its top priority and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the recall. Shoppers with further concerns can contact Aldi’s customer service line for assistance.

Aldi’s ‘do not eat’ recall highlights the importance of allergen transparency and reinforces the supermarket’s commitment to consumer health and safety. Customers are urged to check their cupboards and return any affected products immediately.
