Expectations surrounding Apple’s next flagship iPhone cycle are being tempered after a new industry leak suggested that the upcoming Pro models may not deliver the kind of visible design shift many enthusiasts had anticipated.

Information shared by the tipster DigitalChatStation indicates that Apple’s next premium handset, widely discussed in industry circles as the next-generation Pro iPhone, could rely heavily on hardware already used in the current lineup.
The report points to a powerful new processor being prepared for the device, suggesting that performance improvements remain a central focus. Beyond the chipset, however, much of the broader hardware configuration may stay close to what is already present in the iPhone 17 Pro series.
For consumers expecting a noticeable exterior redesign, the suggestion marks a more restrained approach.
According to the leak, the next Pro model could continue using the same display panel currently featured in the latest generation. The Dynamic Island hardware — the interactive cutout system at the top of the screen — is also said to remain unchanged.
If the information proves accurate, the front of the device may appear nearly identical to its immediate predecessor, with no shift in screen size or the interface system sometimes referred to informally as the “Smart Island.”
The timing of the claim is notable. Several rival smartphone manufacturers are reportedly exploring a different direction as they prepare their own flagship devices.
Companies such as Huawei, Honor and Samsung are said to be working on smartphones that push display dimensions beyond current standards. The trend points toward noticeably larger screens in the next generation of high-end phones.
One of the most widely discussed developments comes from Huawei. Reports suggest the company is preparing a handset with a display approaching seven inches, a size that would stand out even among today’s large-screen devices.
Another Chinese manufacturer, Vivo, is also believed to be developing phones in the same large-display category.
Huawei’s own upcoming Pura 90 series could further widen that gap. Early reports indicate the devices may maintain — or potentially expand — the 6.8-inch panel used in the previous Pura generation.
Alongside its hardware plans, Huawei is continuing to refine its Live View software feature through updates. The company has not confirmed when it might introduce an under-screen 3D face recognition system.
For now, the emerging picture suggests two different directions within the premium smartphone market.
While several brands appear focused on pushing display size and visual hardware forward, Apple may be opting for a more gradual hardware cycle in its next Pro device.

None of the companies involved have publicly confirmed the reported details, and development plans often shift before a product reaches the market. Even so, the leak offers an early indication that Apple’s next upgrade could center more on processing power than on a visible redesign.
