Fresh indications from within the supply chain suggest that Apple Inc. is still weighing design directions for its next-generation Pro iPhones, with particular attention on the front-facing cut-out and rear construction. The developments point to a period of internal testing rather than any final decision, even as timelines for new devices typically begin to narrow.

According to information attributed to the leaker known as Digital Chat Station, Apple is currently evaluating two display approaches for what is expected to be the iPhone 18 Pro series. One version reportedly retains the existing Dynamic Island layout seen in recent models, while the other introduces a smaller cut-out paired with an under-display component for Face ID.
The suggestion of a reduced Dynamic Island is not new, but the latest claim adds weight by indicating that parallel testing is underway. Supply chain feedback cited in the report describes an A/B process, where two screen configurations are being assessed side by side. One remains unchanged, while the alternative shifts part of the Face ID system beneath the display, allowing for a more compact visible cut-out.
The same source linked the possibility of a redesign to commentary from Samsung Electronics, although there is no direct evidence that competitive remarks influence Appleâs product decisions. The connection appears observational rather than causal, and no further detail has been provided to support a direct link between the two companiesâ design strategies.
There is also a note of timing that may raise questions. Mid-April is relatively late in a typical development cycle for major hardware decisions, though it does not rule out ongoing refinement, especially in areas involving new display technologies.
Beyond the front of the device, the report also touches on the rear design. The rectangular camera plateau introduced in the previous generation is expected to remain in place. However, minor adjustments are said to be under consideration, particularly involving materials and finishing.
These changes appear aimed at improving visual consistency between the aluminium frame and the glass section used for wireless charging. The description points to refinement rather than redesign, with no indication of structural overhaul.
At this stage, the information reflects testing and internal evaluation rather than confirmed specifications. As with many early supply chain reports, the final outcome may depend on feasibility, performance, and manufacturing readiness closer to production.

For now, the picture that emerges is one of careful iteration rather than dramatic change, with Apple continuing to adjust details that shape both appearance and function.
