Apple is moving to secure a legal victory against a prominent tech leaker. The company has requested a default judgment against YouTuber Jon Prosser.

    Apple lawsuit Jon Prosser

This action follows his failure to respond to a lawsuit alleging he stole trade secrets. The case centers on the early leak of iOS 26 details.

Details of the Alleged Trade Secret Theft

Apple’s lawsuit, filed in July, names Prosser and an associate, Michael Ramacciotti. The complaint alleges they coordinated to access a developer iPhone belonging to a former Apple engineer.

This access was used to obtain confidential information about an upcoming iOS version. The software, then known internally as iOS 19, was later publicly released as iOS 26.

Prosser subsequently shared these details on his YouTube channel, Front Page Tech. His videos revealed the new translucent design, now called Liquid Glass, months ahead of Apple’s official WWDC 2025 announcement.

According to Reuters, such pre-release leaks can undermine a company’s marketing strategy and product launch.

Recent Developments in the Court Case

The legal proceedings saw new activity this week. Ramacciotti’s deadline to respond to the complaint was extended to October 17.

Court filings indicate he only recently retained legal counsel after the initial August deadline passed. This suggests a developing defense strategy for one defendant.

In contrast, Prosser has not formally responded to the lawsuit. Apple’s legal team filed a request for a default judgment against him on Friday.

A default judgment would allow the judge to rule in Apple’s favor without a trial from Prosser. The company is seeking monetary damages and a permanent injunction.

This injunction would legally bar Prosser and Ramacciotti from further disclosing Apple’s confidential information. Despite the serious allegations, Prosser has continued his YouTube activity, posting an iPhone Air review this week.

This legal action underscores Apple’s aggressive stance against leaks. The outcome of the Apple lawsuit against Jon Prosser could set a significant precedent for how tech companies pursue leakers in the future.

    What is a default judgment?

A default judgment is a ruling made by a court in favor of one party. It happens when the other party fails to respond to a lawsuit or appear in court. The judge can then grant the relief requested by the party that did show up.

What was leaked about iOS 26?

Jon Prosser leaked details about the operating system’s new visual design. This included the translucent interface that Apple later officially named “Liquid Glass.” The leaks occurred months before the software’s public reveal.

What is Apple seeking in this lawsuit?

Apple is asking the court for monetary damages. The company is also seeking an injunction to prevent further disclosure of its trade secrets. This legal action aims to stop future leaks and obtain financial compensation.

Has Jon Prosser commented on the lawsuit?

Prosser has not formally responded to the legal complaint in court. He has, however, continued to produce and publish content on his YouTube channel. This includes new product reviews posted after the lawsuit was filed.

What is the status of the other defendant?

Michael Ramacciotti has been granted an extension to respond to the complaint. His new deadline is October 17. The filing indicates he has now retained a lawyer to represent him in the case.
