ZOOMBANGLA DESK: A total of 18 organizations imbued with the spirit of the great war of liberation have submitted an application to the Secretary-General of the United Nations demanding the recognition of the 1971’s genocide in Bangladesh committed by the Pakistani occupation forces.
The application was handed over to the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations (UN) Muhammad Abdul Muhith at his office on Wednesday, said a press release received here today.
First Secretary (Press) of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations Md Noorelahi Mina was present in the application handing-over ceremony.
On October 3 last, a human chain and a rally were held at Times Square in New York, the USA, to raise the demand for recognition of 1971 genocide at UN, Mahbub Zaman, freedom fighter and chairperson of Amra 71, told BSS.
Representatives of 18 organizations including Amra 71, Artist Forum, Bangabandhu Parishad, Prajanmo 71, Sector Commanders Forum and Bangaliana participated in the rally.
There, a letter of application was read to the UN Secretary General on behalf of the organizations demanding the recognition of Bangladesh’s then Genocide.
Later, it (a letter of application) was handed over to the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN.
