ZOOMBANGLA DESK: Deputy Speaker Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku said that Bharat-Bangladesh Sampreeti Sangsad (BBSS) had been working to strengthen the friendship and bilateral cooperation between India and Bangladesh since its inception.
He also said India-Bangladesh brotherhood is borne in the common sacrifices made during the Liberation War of 1971 and it has become stronger as the cooperation between the two countries has grown in contemporary times.
Deputy Speaker was addressing a reception programme hosted by Bharat-Bangladesh Sampriti Sangsad at Dhaka Club on Thursday.
He said there is no alternative to Bangladesh-India friendship to move forward politically and economically.
Shamsul Haque Tuku said India is a secular country while secularism exists everywhere in Bangladesh.
Bharat-Bangladesh Sampriti Sangsad accorded a reception to its Advisory Council Member Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku for becoming Deputy Speaker of the Bangladesh National Parliament and its Vice President Farida Yasmin for becoming President of the National Press Club.
President of India-Bangladesh Sampreeti Sangsad and former member of parliament Md. Harun Or Rashid presided over the reception programme while advisory council of the organisation and former ambassador Md. Mamtaz Hossain and managing director of Bangladesh News Agency Abul Kalam Azad and secretary of Bangla Academy A. H. M. Lokman Lokman and journalists were present, among others.
