The first-ever Beach Cultural Festival of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) inaugurated in Cox’s Bazar, the world’s longest sea beach on Friday.
BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky opened the two-day festival at 4.30 pm at Laboni Point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach.
Additional Police Super of Cox’s Bazar Mohammad Adibul Islam and Mayor of Cox’s Bazar municipality Mujibur Rahman were present as special guests at the opening ceremony.
“From now on we are planning to organize the festival every year, as part of the ongoing district-based cultural activities by our academy which is intended to expand the cultural practice across the country and feature talented local artists. It will also entertain the tourists and travellers in Cox’s Bazar”, Lucky said at the inauguration.
The Beach Cultural Festival – 2020 will feature songs and dance performances, acrobatics, performance arts, poetry recitals, cultural performances by ethnic groups and other exciting cultural segments by over 500 artists of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Bandarban and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Alongside the opening cultural performances, two 43 feet-long portrait paintings of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have also been unveiled at the venue to be exhibited for a week.
The two-day long festival will conclude on January 25.
