BTS is preparing to step back into the spotlight with a pair of major releases tied to Netflix, marking the group’s first coordinated public return following a multi-year hiatus.

The South Korean group will stage a livestreamed concert titled “BTS the Comeback Live | Arirang,” scheduled to stream globally on Netflix on March 21 at 4 a.m. PT and 7 a.m. ET. The performance will take place in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun area, arriving just hours after the release of the group’s new album “Arirang,” which is set to drop on March 20.
The event carries an additional distinction. According to the announcement, it will be the first live event broadcast from Korea to be livestreamed worldwide.
Directing the performance is Hamish Hamilton, a veteran television director best known for overseeing most Super Bowl Halftime Shows since 2010. His involvement places a seasoned live-broadcast figure at the center of the production, suggesting a large-scale presentation designed for a global audience.
The livestream will be followed shortly by a documentary film. “BTS: The Return,” directed by Bao Nguyen, is set to debut on Netflix on March 27. Nguyen previously directed “The Greatest Night in Pop.”
The documentary focuses on the group’s reunion in Los Angeles as they work together again after the break in group activities. The seven members — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin and Jung Kook — are shown returning to the studio and shaping new music together.
A press release describing the film says the project follows the artists as they create songs reflecting their current perspectives, ultimately leading to the making of “Arirang,” described in the announcement as a defining album of the moment for the group.
“Arirang” will be BTS’ first new album since 2022’s “Proof.” The years that followed saw the members step away from group promotions while completing South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements. During that period, each member also released or worked on individual solo projects.
Plans for the group’s return extend beyond the album and documentary.
Last month, BTS announced a large-scale global tour planned for 2026 and 2027. The schedule outlines 82 performances across 34 markets.
The tour will begin with three concerts in their home country, opening in Goyang, South Korea, with shows set for April 9 and April 11–12. From there the itinerary moves to Tokyo before continuing to North America.
Taken together, the album release, livestream event and documentary mark the group’s first coordinated set of public activities since the hiatus, offering audiences an early look at how BTS intends to reintroduce itself after several years of individual work.
