Dubai Airport warned passengers of travel delays on December 18 and 19 due to heavy rain and strong winds across the UAE. Airlines said the bad weather may slow road travel and disrupt flight schedules. The alert covered all travellers leaving from Dubai International Airport as storms moved through the region.

Dubai Airport travel warning

The warning matters because the UAE is facing intense rain, poor visibility, and waterlogged roads. Airlines urged passengers to plan extra time and check flight updates. According to Khaleej Times and Press Trust of India, the weather caused traffic jams and flooding in several parts of Dubai.

Dubai Airport Travel Warning Explained

Airlines said the storms could affect roads, timing, and airport operations. Emirates told passengers to expect delays on the way to DXB. The airline also said First and Business Class passengers using Chauffeur Drive will be picked up one hour early.

Emirates asked customers to keep their contact details updated. It said this helps them get alerts fast if schedules change. The airline also urged passengers to check flight status often during the storm period.

Flydubai issued a similar warning. It asked all passengers to reach Dubai International Airport four hours before departure. The airline said the weather may affect road travel and could also slow airport operations. Flydubai reminded customers that they can check in online from 48 hours to 75 minutes before their flight.

According to PTI, parts of Dubai saw deep water on roads and in malls. The heavy showers slowed traffic and made driving risky. Officials asked travelers to use the Dubai Metro when possible to avoid delays.

Impact on Airlines and Passengers

IndiGo also issued a weather advisory. The airline said the UAE will see heavy rain and thunderstorms during this period. It warned that flight schedules may change through the day if conditions get worse.

According to IndiGo, staff are working to keep flights on time. But it said some delays or cancellations may still happen. The airline asked passengers to watch for updates and check their booking status.

IndiGo also said road delays are likely. It told passengers to leave early for the airport. If a flight is affected, IndiGo said passengers can use Plan B to pick another option or request a refund.

In addition, the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation advised companies in affected areas to allow work-from-home arrangements on December 19. The ministry said this will help protect workers during the severe weather.

The Dubai Airport travel warning is expected to stay in place until weather conditions improve. Passengers are urged to stay updated, stay safe, and plan extra travel time as the heavy rain continues.
