A magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck the Gerash region of southern Iran on Tuesday, adding another layer of strain to a country already under sustained military pressure. There were no immediate reports of significant damage or casualties from the tremor.

The quake was felt as airstrikes by the United States and Israel continued across Iranian territory for a fourth straight day. While the earthquake itself appeared limited in impact, it unfolded against a backdrop of heightened military activity and growing uncertainty.
Local media reported that at least 13 Iranian troops were killed in a strike on Kerman Air Base, located about 800 kilometres southeast of Tehran. The base is known to house military helicopters.
The semi-official Tasnim News Agency and the Hamshahri newspaper both identified the facility as the target. Neither outlet indicated the extent of structural damage, and there was no independent confirmation of the casualty figures at the time of reporting.
Israel and the United States have been carrying out air operations since Saturday, focusing on what they describe as Iranian military sites. The pace and scope of the strikes suggest a coordinated campaign rather than isolated actions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that the military effort could take âsome time,â though he stressed it would not stretch into years. His remarks signalled expectations of a sustained but limited-duration campaign aimed at strategic targets.
On Tuesday, Israeli military spokesperson Nadav Shoshani told reporters that Israel had prepared for an operation that could last several weeks. He indicated that deploying ground forces was unlikely at this stage.
âI donât think thatâs something very likely at the moment for Israeli forces. Thereâs not a practical idea at the moment that I know of,â he said.

With tremors from both natural and military forces occurring within hours of each other, the immediate concern remains safety on the ground and clarity over what may follow.
