Konami rolled out a major season update for eFootball 2027 this week, reworking core gameplay and adding a new Custom Tournament mode as the 2026-27 football season gets underway in the free to play game.

The version 6.0.0 update landed across Xbox, PlayStation, PC and mobile, according to TheXboxHub. Konami said the changes are meant to make matches more tactical and less predictable, though the studio has not detailed every gameplay tweak in its patch notes.

The daily reward system also got reworked. Konami teamed up with PlatinumGames on refreshed mini-games, and added a new mode called Daily Super Play, a timing based feature that lets players recreate well known football moments using a specially chosen roster.

Alongside the gameplay changes, Konami introduced premium content built around two of the game’s biggest ambassadors. The eFootball Leo Messi Edition 2027 and Lamine Yamal Edition 2027 are priced at 10.99 pounds on Xbox for the standard version, with Deluxe editions running 16.99 pounds.

The standard editions include an Epic version of the featured player, seven Highlight Player Cards, development items, themed stadium elements and 250 eFootball Coins. Deluxe buyers get more Highlight Player Cards and development items, plus exclusive kits, profile banners and 450 Coins.

Reaction on release day was mixed. Some players on Reddit welcomed changes to defensive engagement, saying attacking players with weak defensive stats should no longer dominate challenges the way they did in the previous version. Others online described the update as closer to a patch than a full new title, noting the game looks and plays much like its 2026 predecessor.

eFootball remains one of the most played football simulators worldwide despite the yearly release carrying over the same base game rather than launching as a standalone purchase, a structure Konami has used since retiring the old Pro Evolution Soccer brand.
