Why Galaxy S26 Lineup May Not Disappoint Fans

Samsung is making a major strategic shift for its next flagship series. New reports indicate the company is reviving the Galaxy S26+ model. This decision comes after assessing the market performance of the current Galaxy S25 Edge.

Galaxy S26+

The change was prompted by internal sales data. According to a report from TheElec, the Galaxy S25 Edge has seen below-par consumer adoption. This has led Samsung to reconsider its initial plan to fully replace the Plus model with the Edge variant.

Internal Development Signals Plus Model’s Return

Samsung has reportedly restarted development of the Galaxy S26+. The device is internally codenamed “M Plus.” It is expected to join the Galaxy S26 Pro (M1), Galaxy S26 Edge (M2), and Galaxy S26 Ultra (M3) at their launch early next year.

The decision was made after a careful review period. The Galaxy S25 Edge launched months after the rest of the S25 series. This delay gave Samsung time to evaluate its sales success. The data clearly favored the traditional Plus model, leading to this reversal.

Sales Figures Drive Strategic Pivot

The numbers reveal a significant consumer preference. Samsung planned to assemble 500,000 Galaxy S25+ units in the last quarter. In contrast, it only planned for 300,000 Galaxy S25 Edge units during the same period. Demand for the Plus model is substantially higher.

This trend is part of a larger picture. The company also planned for 2.9 million Galaxy S25 units and 3.4 million Galaxy S26 Ultra units. The total shipment forecast for the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra is set at 37.7 million units. The potential loss from a weaker-selling Edge model is a risk Samsung is unwilling to take.

The revival of the Galaxy S26+ highlights Samsung’s data-driven approach to its flagship lineup. This move ensures the company meets clear consumer demand and stabilizes its premium smartphone portfolio. The final Galaxy S26 specs will now be eagerly watched by fans of the Plus model.

The decision is based on sales data. The Galaxy S25 Edge reportedly performed below expectations. Stronger demand for the Plus model made it the safer business choice.

How many Galaxy S26 models will there be?

Samsung now plans to launch four models. The lineup should include the Galaxy S26 Pro, S26+, S26 Edge, and the S26 Ultra. This mirrors the current Galaxy S25 series structure.

When will the Galaxy S26 series be released?

The new flagship phones are expected early next year. A launch in January or February 2026 is most likely, following Samsung’s typical annual schedule for its S-series.

What was the internal codename for the Galaxy S26+?

The device was reportedly called “M Plus” internally. This follows Samsung’s pattern of using internal codenames like M1 for the Pro and M3 for the Ultra model.
