Currently, the global gaming industry market has exceeded US$200 billion, which is more than the music and film industries combined. As a growing economy in the Asia-Pacific region, Bangladesh also has huge potential in the gaming industry.

Gaming Industry

If this industry develops, Bangladesh’s digital economy will become stronger and will contribute significantly to the GDP. And therefore, Tencent, one of the largest technology companies in China, is interested in working with various partners to develop the gaming industry and digital sector in Bangladesh.

This information was given at a seminar titled ‘Potential of Gaming Industry in Bangladesh’ organized at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday. The seminar was jointly organized by Bangladesh Intellectual Property Forum (BIPF) and Tencent, according to a press release.

At the seminar, Ye Lar Lau, Head of Public Affairs for Tencent’s APAC region, said, “Games are not just entertainment, they are a powerful economic sector that plays a significant role in job creation, technological innovation, and global connectivity.

Bangladesh’s young, tech-savvy population and rapidly developing digital infrastructure are ready to harness the huge potential of the gaming industry. Tencent is eager to work with Bangladesh to develop the gaming and digital sectors, which I believe will bring positive changes to the country’s economy and society.”

ABM Hamidul Misbah, founder of the Bangladesh Intellectual Property Forum, said, “The gaming industry in Bangladesh is going through a crucial time. With the right policies, investments, and public-private collaboration, we can harness its full potential.

This seminar is an important step in creating a sustainable gaming ecosystem, which will not only drive economic development, but also provide opportunities for the country’s youth to acquire new skills and build careers in game development, e-sports, and related sectors.
