A Delhi court heard a plea from two nightclub owners on Wednesday. Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra fled to Thailand after a deadly fire at their Goa venue. They now seek protection from arrest so they can return to India.

Goa nightclub fire

The brothers are co-owners of the ‘Birch By Romeo Lane’ nightclub in Arpora, Goa. A massive fire there killed 25 people earlier this month. According to Reuters, an Interpol Blue Corner Notice is active against them.

Legal Maneuvers in a High-Profile Tragedy Case

The Luthra brothers informed the Rohini court they are in Phuket. They stated their travel was for work. Their lawyer argued they wish to cooperate with the Goa Police investigation.

They fear immediate custodial action upon landing in Delhi. The pair have asked for four weeks of transit anticipatory bail. This would shield them from arrest during their return journey.

Judge Vandana has sought a response from the Goa authorities. The next hearing is scheduled for Thursday. The brothers were denied interim protection from arrest at this stage.

Expanding Investigation and Arrests

The tragedy has triggered a widening police probe. Goa Police have already arrested five staff members from the nightclub. Those detained include managers and other employees.

Another co-owner, Ajay Gupta, was taken into custody in Delhi. He was located at a private hospital after a Look Out Circular was issued. Gupta has claimed he was merely a partner in the business.

The fire represents one of Goa’s deadliest nightlife disasters. Victims included staff and tourists. The investigation is focusing on safety violations and accountability for the inferno.

The legal proceedings for the Goa nightclub fire are intensifying as authorities work to hold responsible parties accountable for the devastating loss of life.
