Google will bring its screenless fitness tracker, the Fitbit Air, to India in October 2026. The company confirmed the timeline at its Pixel 11 series launch event in the country this week. Several Indian technology outlets reported the announcement soon after.
The Fitbit Air weighs just 12 grams. It skips a display altogether and tracks heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen and workouts through sensors alone. The data then syncs to the Google Health app on a paired phone.
Google is pitching the device as a way to monitor fitness without the pull of a screen. Battery life is rated at up to seven days per charge, longer than most smartwatches sold in India. The tracker also includes AI-driven health insights, though Google has not detailed what those will cover at launch.
Pricing for the Indian market has not been announced yet. The device debuted globally at $99.99, and Indian buyers will likely see a locally adjusted figure once Google finalizes distribution deals. The company has stayed quiet on exact launch dates, available colors and which retailers will carry it.
Google acquired Fitbit for roughly $2.1 billion in a deal that closed in January 2021. It has since folded the brand’s tracking software into its own health ecosystem. The Air marks the most distinct hardware departure since that acquisition. It positions Fitbit closer to screen-free rivals like Whoop and Oura than to the Apple Watch or Samsung’s Galaxy Watch line.
The India rollout follows Google’s broader push to expand its hardware lineup beyond phones. Fitbit already has a loyal following in the country from its earlier bands and watches. A screen-free tracker built around cutting phone-checking habits marks a real shift from the smartwatch-style wearables Google has favored in recent years.
Indian shoppers curious about the Fitbit Air will need to wait until October for firm pricing and availability. Google says more details will follow closer to the launch date.
