Google is increasing its use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to make its search engine more advanced and effective. As part of this, the company has experimentally launched ‘AI mode’. The launch of this feature will provide more detailed and intelligent answers like chatbots in addition to traditional search methods. Initially, only Google One AI Premium users will be able to use the new mode.
The AI mode feature can be enabled from the Labs section. The AI mode is based on Gemini 2.0 technology, so users can see different results generated by AI instead of traditional search results. Each answer will have a link to the relevant source. So users can get more detailed information if they want.
The new AI mode is essentially the next version of AI Overview technology. In this regard, Google’s Vice President of Search, Robbie Stein, said in a blog post that with AI mode on, users will be able to get detailed answers to more complex questions than they currently have.
They will also be able to ask helpful questions based on their search. The introduction of this new feature will further expand the scope of AI Overview. As a result, users will easily get reliable answers to complex questions.
According to Google, if AI fails to provide reliable answers for some queries, traditional web search results will be shown. Google said in a blog post, “Our goal is to provide as many AI-powered answers as possible. However, if AI is not helpful or reliable enough in a given case, traditional web search results will be shown.”
