Homeless people spread to Kabul, thousands sleep on streets

INTERNATIONAL DESK: As conflicts rage in fifteen provinces of Afghanistan, thousands of families have been left homeless who are now going through horrific situations.

Tens of families out of thousands have come to Kabul who are now living on the streets and parks.

Hundreds of people who have been displaced from northern Kunduz province are living in a park in Police District 15 of Kabul city. They have come along with their minors, elderly, and wounded members of families and know nothing about their breadwinners-father/husband and brothers/sons.

They say that they are not aware of the situation of their men and have only managed to save themselves and the children after the situation deteriorated in the provincial capital of Kunduz province.

The Afghan government is yet to provide them with food and shelter, but local people have been supplying food to the IDP.

Afghanistan Ministry of refugees and repatriates says that the number of Internally Displaced People (IDP) has been unprecedented and providing the people with basic facilities has been difficult due to war.

As per the information of the ministry, 75 thousand families have been remained homeless in the past five months.

The people have mostly been displaced from Kandahar, Kunduz, Nimroz, and other provinces where the Taliban are fighting the ANDSF inside the cities. (Khaama Press)
