ZOOMBANGLA DESK: The Bangladesh Conscious Citizens Committee (BCCC) on Saturday called on Pakistan to stop sponsoring terrorism, militancy and extremism.
The call was made from a human chain formed by BCCC in front of the Pakistan High Commission in capital’s Gulshan area on Saturday morning.
The demonstration was organized in protest against Pakistan’s continued role in sponsoring terrorism and militancy.
Veteran freedom fighter Professor Neem Chandra Bhowmik, convener of the committee, presided over the human chain programme.
Freedom fighters Salauddin Ahmed, journalist Basudeb Dhar, Bangladesh Christian Association President Nirmal Rozario, Ishaq Khan, Motilal Roy and Mohammad Shafiqul Islam addressed the gathering.
Similar demonstrations have taken place in different parts of the country including Dinajpur, Rangpur, Kushtia and Natore.
Addressing the programme speakers said that after the defeat of Pakistan in the war of liberation in 1971, they continued spreading their network of conspiracies in Bangladesh and South East Asia.
`The assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family was part of the Pak conspiracies. Now Pakistan is busy helping militants in Afghanistan and provoking the situation in Kashmir. Its goal is to destabilize the entire subcontinent,’ the added.
The speakers called upon all the forces believing in the war of liberation and democracy to unite to thwart the Pak conspiracy and propaganda, as seen recently in ISI sponsored videos of one Pakistan TV anchor Maria Jadoon.
