INTERNATIONAL DESK: Indian Army chief General M M Naravane is on a three-day visit to Singapore to further boost bilateral defence ties with the country.
Gen Naravane will be meeting senior military and civilian leadership of Singapore during his visit to discuss avenues to enhance bilateral defence ties, an officer said on Sunday.
Apart from laying a wreath at the Kranji War Memorial, the Army chief will also visit the Infantry Gunnery Tactical Simulation and Wargame Centre, Regional HADR Coordination Centre, Info Fusion Centre and the Changi Naval Base.
Under bilateral agreements inked over a decade ago, Singapore uses Indian military facilities for training of its mechanised forces at Babina, artillery at the Deolali ranges and F-16 fighter jets at the Kalaikunda airbase on a regular basis.
The two countries have also inked a submarine rescue support pact between their navies as well as an agreement to access each other’s bases and reciprocal logistics support for warships. (The Times of India)
