A 51-year-old Indian man will be deported from Canada. Jagjit Singh was convicted for criminally harassing two teenage girls. The incidents occurred outside a high school in Sarnia, Ontario.

Indian visitor deported Canada

Singh was visiting the country on a six-month visa. He had arrived in July to see his newborn grandchild. According to police, his actions have resulted in a permanent ban from returning to Canada.

Court Details Harassment and Arrests

Police reports state Singh repeatedly approached students. This happened between September 8 and 11. He tried to talk to girls about drugs and alcohol.

He also insisted on taking photos with them. One girl told police he entered her personal space. She pushed him away after he tried to put an arm around her.

Singh does not speak English. He continued to follow female students as they left the school property. His behavior led to his first arrest on September 16.

He was initially charged with sexual interference and sexual assault. A second complaint from the same day led to another arrest. He spent an extra night in custody due to interpreter issues.

Guilty Plea and Immediate Deportation

On September 19, Singh pleaded guilty to criminal harassment. Justice Krista Lynn Leszczynski delivered a strong rebuke. She stated his behavior “will not be tolerated.”

He was sentenced to time already served in pre-trial custody. The court also imposed a three-year probation order. According to the Winnipeg Sun, the order bans him from contacting the victims or being near places children gather.

Canada Border Services Agency officers were present in court. They took Singh into custody immediately after the hearing. His deportation was expedited, canceling his original December flight.

Victim-impact statements described significant emotional fallout. One girl said she now feels unsafe around older men. The other reported her mental health was affected, causing her to avoid public spaces.

The swift legal action and deportation of Jagjit Singh underscore Canada’s firm stance on protecting minors from harassment. This case serves as a stark reminder that such conduct leads to severe immigration consequences.
