Intel Corporation has announced a new strategic partnership with rival NVIDIA. The collaboration will see the two tech giants co-develop advanced computing platforms. This deal was confirmed by company leaders on Tuesday.

The alliance aims to combine Intel’s future x86 CPU cores with NVIDIA’s GPU and AI technology. This move is designed to create powerful new chips for PCs and data centers.

Intel NVIDIA GPU deal

Details of the Intel and NVIDIA Collaboration

The partnership focuses on creating multi-chiplet processor designs. Intel will provide its advanced manufacturing and packaging technologies. NVIDIA will supply its GPU intellectual property for integration.

According to Reuters, the deal is a significant shift in the industry’s competitive landscape. It pairs Intel’s fabrication expertise with NVIDIA’s dominant graphics and AI accelerators. The goal is to deliver next-generation computing solutions for AI and high-performance applications.

Intel Reaffirms Commitment to Its Own GPU Divisions

Following the announcement, questions arose about the future of Intel’s internal GPU projects. These include the Arc series for gamers and the Gaudi accelerators for AI. An Intel spokesperson moved quickly to address these concerns.

The company provided a clear statement to several industry publications. “We are not discussing specific roadmaps at this time,” the spokesperson said. “The collaboration is complementary to Intel’s roadmap and Intel will continue to have GPU product offerings.”

This confirmation suggests products like the upcoming Celestial (Xe3) graphics architecture remain on track. Intel’s discrete Arc graphics cards are also expected to continue their development cycle.

This new partnership with NVIDIA is complementary, not a replacement, for Intel’s ambitious in-house GPU roadmap. The company is betting on a multi-faceted approach to compete in the evolving computing market.

Info at your fingertips

What are Intel and NVIDIA building together?

They are building new processors that combine Intel’s x86 CPU cores with NVIDIA’s GPU technology. These chips will use advanced packaging to merge components from both companies into a single unit.

Will Intel stop making its own Arc graphics cards?

No. Intel has explicitly stated it will continue its own GPU product offerings. The NVIDIA deal is for specific collaborative projects, not a replacement for Intel’s internal graphics divisions.

When will we see the first products from this deal?

Specific timelines were not announced. Industry analysts, cited by AP, suggest the first chips likely will not arrive before 2026, as complex chiplet designs require extensive development time.

Does this affect Intel’s Gaudi AI accelerators?

Intel has not indicated any change to its Gaudi AI roadmap. The company continues to position Gaudi as a strong alternative to NVIDIA’s own data center GPUs in the AI market.

Has Intel done this before with a competitor?

Yes. Intel previously partnered with AMD to create the Kaby Lake-G processor. It combined an Intel CPU with a custom AMD Radeon GPU on a single package.
