INTERNATIONAL DESK: Iran’s IRNA news agency has reported that the Ministry of Intelligence of the country, in collaboration with the Taliban administration, has apprehended three Israeli intelligence operatives (Mossad) who were planning to launch suicide drones towards Iran at the Afghanistan-Iran border.
This Iranian media outlet reported the detention of these three individuals on Sunday and added that the detained individuals have been transferred to Iran.
According to the report, these three individuals have been detained in cooperation with the intelligence forces of the Taliban administration. It is said that the detained individuals hold Iranian nationality.
This marks the first intelligence cooperation between Iran and the Taliban administration in response to Israeli threats. The interim regime of the Taliban in Afghanistan has not immediately responded to this development, but Zabihullah Mujahid stated that details on this matter will be shared later.
This came at a time when the high-level delegation led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the de facto administration of Afghanistan, embarked on a diplomatic mission to Iran. The delegation’s primary agenda is to discuss with Iranian officials, covering many topics, including bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
One of the key focuses of these talks will be the improvement of trade, transit, and transportation links between Afghanistan and Iran. These discussions aim to enhance connectivity and facilitate the movement of goods and people, which is crucial for the economic development of both countries.(KP)
