At least, according to his wife Kylie Kelce. The Philadelphia Eagles alum recalled a time when a customized version of Pinocchio downright scared their daughter, Elliotte, 4.

“They’ll tell me sometimes, the girls will tell me they want one of their stuffed animals in the story,” Jason—who also shares kids Wyatt, 6, Bennett, 2, andFinnley, 7 months, with Kylie—said on the Dec. 3 episode of his and brother Travis Kelce‘s New Heights podcast, “or they want to be in the story themselves.”
So, one night, Elliotte requested that Jason tell her the story of Pinocchio, featuring her stuffie Slothy.
“Ellie wished upon a star, and Slothy came to life,” Jason said. “And her eyes went just [wide] and she didn’t move, and she was just holding the stuffed animal. I had a Jiminy Cricket figurine. I had a whole conscience thing going on and everything.”
“After the story, Ellie was just so terrified,” the retired NFL star continued. “Kylie was so furious. She’s like ‘What the f–k is wrong with you?'”
Jason doesn’t only tell his and Kylie’s daughters customized bedtime stories, however. The girls get to enjoy a concert, too.
“If I hear a tune or a song that I like, I like to sing,” the 38-year-old noted, “I like singing to the girls at bedtime.”
After singing a few lyrics from the folk ballad “The Unfortunate Lad” from the Coen brothers’ film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, he added, “And then I say, ‘Goodnight, Wyatt!'”
“That,” Travis commented, “left me speechless.”
Earlier this year, Kylie, 33, shared insight not how she and Jason navigate life with their daughters, admitting that he was “tagging in heavy on bedtime.”
“We used to tag team bedtime and now it’s a little bit of like, he’s doing it on his own, which he’s the best at. I think they prefer that,” the Not Gonna Lie host told People. “They’re like, ‘Mom, why are you even in here? You can get out.’ He gives the best back scratches, and he reads the stories with voices, so he’s way more fun than I am. But that’s really been the biggest change, is bedtime. Dad’s a pro.”
