Jodi Hildebrandt, once a respected therapist in Utah, is now behind bars. She and YouTuber Ruby Franke were both sentenced for aggravated child abuse in 2023. Their arrest shocked fans and followers of their “Moms of Truth” platform.

The case began when Franke’s malnourished son escaped from Hildebrandt’s home in August 2023. Authorities later arrested both women. Each pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse. They are now serving prison terms of 4 to 30 years.

    Jodi Hildebrandt’s Background and Downfall

Jodi Hildebrandt was known in Utah’s Mormon community. She founded ConneXions, a life coaching program. Her sessions focused on strict moral discipline and parenting.

In 2019, she formed a close bond with Ruby Franke. They began collaborating on “Moms of Truth,” a YouTube and social media brand. Their content promoted tough-love parenting and religious views.

Trouble began when Franke’s 12-year-old son escaped and sought help. Police found signs of abuse including duct tape and starvation. This led to the shocking arrest of both Hildebrandt and Franke.

They were charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse. They both later accepted plea deals. According to the Associated Press, the Utah court sentenced each woman to serve between 4 and 30 years.

    Where Is Jodi Hildebrandt Now?

Jodi Hildebrandt is currently serving her sentence at the Utah State Correctional Facility. She will not be eligible for parole until December 2026. Ruby Franke is also held at the same facility.

Utah law caps the maximum sentence at 30 years. Both women will appear before the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole for individual hearings.

Following her arrest, Hildebrandt lost her counseling license. Her name has since been removed from public therapist registries. YouTube and other platforms banned her accounts.

Jodi has maintained some innocence. In a recorded prison call, she claimed the injured child “did that to himself.” Her statements have drawn heavy backlash.

The Broader Impact on Community and Media

The arrest of Hildebrandt and Franke exposed cracks in online parenting culture. It raised questions about unchecked influence on social media.

The story inspired several media projects. Lifetime aired Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story in 2024. Hulu followed with Devil in the Family in early 2025. Investigation Discovery also released A Cult of Sin and Influence in September 2025.

Hildebrandt’s case has left a stain on Utah’s faith-based coaching community. Many now question how such abuse went unnoticed for so long.

Jodi Hildebrandt is no longer a trusted voice in parenting. Her downfall shows the danger of unchecked authority.
