Apple has officially kicked off its “Awe Dropping” 2025 event at Apple Park, unveiling the much-anticipated iPhone 17 lineup alongside new Apple Watches and AirPods. The event, streamed live from the Steve Jobs Theater, is delivering the company’s biggest hardware upgrades in years.
The iPhone 17 now comes with a slightly larger 6.3-inch ProMotion 120Hz display, adaptive refresh rate down to 1Hz, and a new 7-layer anti-glare Ceramic Shield for better visibility. Powered by the A19 chip built on a 3nm design, it offers improved efficiency, higher memory bandwidth to handle on-device AI tasks, and a 5-core GPU for intensive graphics. Apple claims the new processor delivers up to 8 extra hours of video playback compared to the iPhone 16.
The phone introduces a new 48MP dual Fusion camera system. This setup includes a telephoto sensor capable of producing 2x optical-quality zoom, with separate pipelines for better clarity and image processing. Gaming is also expected to see major improvements thanks to the adaptive refresh technology and performance gains from the A19 chip.
Apple also highlighted design enhancements, including anti-reflective coatings on the display, a feature that rivals like the Galaxy S25 Ultra have adopted. These changes aim to improve readability and usability in various lighting conditions.
Alongside the iPhones, Apple confirmed updates to its smartwatch lineup. The Apple Watch SE 3 will start at $249, the Series 11 at $399, and the rugged Watch Ultra 3 at $799 with up to 42 hours of battery life, SOS via satellite, and new Hermes band options. All models are available for pre-order today, with sales beginning September 19, 2025.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to follow the same pre-order and release timeline, making September 19 the key date for Apple fans worldwide.
