Micah Parsons Trade Shocks NFL: Packers Win Big in Kenny Clark Deal

Micah Parsons is headed to Green Bay. The Dallas Cowboys have traded the All-Pro edge rusher to the Packers. In return, Dallas gets defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks.

The trade ends Parsons’ contract dispute with Dallas. It also reshapes both teams’ defensive depth charts. According to AP, the deal was finalized earlier this week.

Parsons, 26, has been one of the league’s top defenders. He made four straight Pro Bowls. He had 14 sacks in 2024 and a total of 52.5 over four seasons. His 2025 salary is $24 million, with franchise tags still possible.

Clark, 29, is a three-time Pro Bowler. He recorded 34.5 sacks and 252 tackles since 2016. In 2024, he had five sacks and 49 tackles. But he comes with a $17.5 million cap hit in 2025. Dallas can opt out of his deal after next season.

Kenny Clark vs Micah Parsons: Depth Chart Shake-Up

For the Cowboys, Clark fills a major gap. Dallas ranked 20th in rush defense in 2024. Mazi Smith struggled in his rookie season. Clark now starts beside Osa Odighizuwa. Rookies like Marshawn Kneeland offer depth but lack experience.

However, losing Parsons weakens their pass rush. DeMarcus Lawrence is aging. He had just six sacks last year. Parsons led a unit that topped the NFL with 53 sacks. Without him, Dallas could fall behind in pressure rate.

The Packers gain a star. Parsons joins Rashan Gary, who had seven sacks in 2024. Lukas Van Ness moves to a backup role. This raises Green Bay’s pass rush potential. Their defense ranked 13th in pressure rate last year. With Parsons, they look playoff ready.

But they lose Clark up front. Devonte Wyatt now becomes the lead tackle. TJ Slaton and Colby Wooden provide depth. The run defense could slip. Still, the addition of Parsons could carry more weight.

Who Won the Cowboys-Packers Trade?

The Packers appear to be the clear winners. Parsons is a generational player. He is younger, faster, and more impactful. He boosts Green Bay’s defense instantly. The cost—Clark and two picks—is steep, but worth it.

Dallas gets a solid run-stopper. Clark helps immediately. But without Parsons, the Cowboys lose their defensive identity. Their pass rush becomes average. The team may struggle to pressure elite quarterbacks.

In the long term, draft picks could help Dallas rebuild. But for now, Green Bay takes the edge.

This trade changes the landscape for both teams. It ends a contract standoff and reshapes defensive strategies. But in this deal, Green Bay walks away with the star.
