Modi, Israeli PM hold first bilateral, agree to expand cooperation in high-tech

INTERNATIONAL DESK: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Naftali Bennett held their first bilateral meeting on Tuesday on the sidelines of the COP26 in Glasgow, and agreed to expand cooperation in the areas of high-technology and innovation.

Modi invited the Israeli PM to visit India.

The Indian Prime Minister’s Office in a tweet said: “Enhancing friendship with Israel. Prime Ministers @narendramodi and @naftalibennett had a fruitful meeting in Glasgow. Both leaders discussed deepening various avenues of cooperation for the benefit of our citizens.”

The Israeli PM’s office in a tweet said: “Excellent meeting with @NarendraModi at @COP26. Narendra, I want to thank you for your historic role in shaping the ties between our countries. Together, we can bring India-Israel relations to a whole new level and build a better & brighter future for our nations.”

   

The Ministry of External Affairs of India in a statement said that the two leaders reviewed the bilateral strategic partnership and expressed satisfaction over the progress made in diverse sectors.

They agreed on further expanding cooperation, especially in the areas of high-technology and innovation.

Recalling that next year would mark 30 years of the establishment of full diplomatic relations between India and Israel, Prime Minister extended an invitation to Bennett to visit India, it said. (India Blooms)
