Why Was Mustafizur Rahman Given a PRP Injection Without Any Injury?
Bangladesh’s premier fast bowler, Mustafizur Rahman, received a PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injection on Wednesday (March 12), despite not suffering from any new injury. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical unit confirmed that this was a precautionary step to manage his recurring discomfort from an old shoulder injury.

Old Injury Concerns
Since his shoulder injury in 2016 and subsequent surgery in 2017, Mustafizur has occasionally faced discomfort. A BCB medical unit member explained,
“Mustafizur has no new injuries, but his left shoulder, which was operated on earlier, sometimes causes issues. He manages the discomfort and continues playing. PRP injections are usually used to stimulate healing and reduce pain. Typically, players take seven to ten days to recover after receiving the injection.”
Dhaka Premier League & IPL 2025 Speculations
Mustafizur’s immediate focus is to regain match fitness and make a comeback in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). However, during the recent transfer window, no club picked him up. There is speculation that he might be considered as an injury replacement for IPL 2025, but no official confirmation has been made yet.
Interest from Prime Bank Cricket Club
In the DPL, Mustafizur might return to play for Prime Bank Cricket Club, where he played last season. A club official commented,
“If he gets fit and falls within our budget, we will certainly go for him.”
Mustafizur Rahman’s PRP injection is aimed at ensuring his long-term performance and fitness. Fans eagerly await his return to competitive cricket, whether in the Dhaka Premier League or as a potential pick for IPL 2025.
