Nvidia Posts $81.6 Billion in Record Q1 Revenue, 85% Growth Year-Over-Year

By Soniya ChowdhuryJuly 20, 20262 Mins Read

Nvidia reported record revenue of $81.6 billion for Q1 fiscal 2027 (quarter ended April 26, 2026), up 85% year-over-year. Data Center revenue hit $75.2 billion, up 92% from the prior year, as the AI boom continues driving demand for the company’s processors.

The AI Engine

Nvidia’s dominance in AI chips is undeniable. Data Center revenue now accounts for 92% of total income. Every major cloud company—Amazon, Google, Microsoft—buys Nvidia chips to power their AI services. The supply constraint that plagued 2024 and early 2025 has disappeared. Demand far exceeds supply, and Nvidia can barely keep up.

Forward Outlook

Management expects sequential revenue growth throughout 2026, exceeding the $500 billion Blackwell/Rubin pipeline. Blackwell is the next-generation chip that will power the next wave of AI models. The addressable market appears nearly infinite—if a company wants to do anything with AI, it needs Nvidia chips.

The company also increased its quarterly dividend from $0.01 to $0.25 per share and authorized an $80 billion share buyback, signaling confidence in its ability to generate cash.

Geopolitical Cloud

One caveat: Nvidia stated it is “not assuming any Data Center compute revenue from China” in its outlook due to U.S. export controls. This means the company is cutting itself off from China’s AI ambitions—a massive market. The restriction caps total addressable market but reflects geopolitical reality.

Nvidia’s growth is real, but it’s capped by export controls and the finite amount of electricity the world can dedicate to AI.

FYI (keeping you in the loop)

What’s Blackwell and why does it matter?

Blackwell is Nvidia’s next-generation chip architecture, expected to launch in volume in late 2026. It’s faster and more power-efficient than current H100 chips. Every cloud company is waiting for Blackwell to upgrade their AI infrastructure. The $500B pipeline refers to expected Blackwell revenue.
