Details about the next flagship from OnePlus are beginning to take shape months ahead of any official announcement, with a new round of leaks pointing to changes in both performance hardware and display technology.

A post shared on Weibo by known tipster Digital Chat Station suggests the upcoming OnePlus 16 will run on Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, identified by the model number SM8975. The chip itself has not been formally introduced, and there has been no confirmation from either company, leaving the claim within the realm of early reporting rather than established fact.

The same source outlines a redesigned display setup. According to the leak, the device is expected to feature a 6.78-inch LTPO panel supplied by BOE, with a resolution described as 1.5K. The screen is said to be surrounded by notably slim bezels, measuring around 1 millimeter on all sides, a detail that suggests a continued focus on edge-to-edge design.

Refresh rate figures, if accurate, would mark a notable shift. The panel is tipped to drop as low as 185Hz and scale up to 240Hz at the top end. That range exceeds what was offered on the OnePlus 15, which reportedly carried a 165Hz display. The new panel may also include a custom touch control chip and support for the BT.2020 color gamut, though no further technical specifics have been shared.

Earlier reports tied to the same device have mentioned a dual 200-megapixel camera system, pairing a main sensor with a periscope telephoto lens. Battery capacity has also been a focus of speculation, with figures suggesting a 9,000 mAh unit supported by 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.
