INTERNATIONAL DESK: A large number of people, who had assembled in Jamia Masjid at Anantnag region of Jammu and Kashmir, vowed to protect the minorities of the Valley amid rising incidents of targeted killings.

They had assembled in the mosque for Friday congregation prayers.

“Amid spate in #targeted civilian killings in Kashmir,People vow for #protection and #safety of #minorities in the Valley during #Friday congregation prayers in Historical Jamia Masjid Anantnag,” KNS tweeted with a video of the congregation.

Violence hits Kashmir:

Hours after the killing of a bank manager, a migrant labourer was shot dead by terrorists in Kashmir’s Budgam on Thursday.

Another worker, who received injuries in the attack, has been shifted to a hospital.

The Valley has been rattled by a string of targeted killings in recent months, with Vijay Kumar, a manager with the Ellaquai Dehati Bank (EDB), being shot dead in Kulgam district earlier in the day.

Kumar was a native of Rajasthan.

The labourer’s killing is the third targeted attack on Hindus in the Valley in just three days.

Earlier in the day, a terrorist entered the Areh branch of Elaqahi Dehati Bank and shot Kumar.

CCTV footage shows the assailant fled the crime scene after firing at Kumar.

Kumar was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to the injuries on the way.

These two killings come two days after terrorists killed a 36-year-old Kashmiri Pandit school teacher in Golpara area of Kulgam district.

In the last two months, two civilians, including a Kashmir Pandit employee Rahul Bhat and two off-duty policemen were shot down by the terrorists. (India Blooms)
