INTERNATIONAL DESK: It has been nine days since the Taliban fighters entered the Afghan capital but the banks are still closed which has created grave concerns.
People are facing the gravest problems right after the closure of banks and the biggest money-changing market-Sarai Shahzada- in Kabul.
People have their money in bank accounts but do not have access to them which has doubled their daily problems.
Another problem is the payment of salaries to the employees of private organizations and government officials.
Owners of private organizations have money in their accounts but due to the closure of banks, they cannot pay their employees which has left thousands of people in limbo.
Government officials are also in a thorough uncertainty as this is the end of the month but there is no clue about their salaries.
Sarai Shahzada in a statement on Saturday, August 21 said, since the money-changing market is directly dependent to the central bank of Afghanistan-De Afghanistan Bank- it will remain closed unless the central bank resumes operations.
Afghanistan Islamic Emirate has not said anything about the reopening of banks in the country and owners of private banks said that the banks will remain closed indefinitely.
The situation has been hitting the poorest class of society as the prices have been soaring day by day.
