Xiaomi has fixed April 21 as the launch date for its latest addition to the Redmi K90 lineup, introducing a model that leans firmly into mobile gaming. The Redmi K90 Max is scheduled to be unveiled in China at 7 PM local time, with pre-orders already underway across several domestic e-commerce platforms.

The announcement comes alongside a steady release of official details, offering a clearer picture of where the device is positioned. At the centre of it is a 6.83-inch display capable of a 165Hz refresh rate, paired with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. That combination suggests a focus on both fluid visuals and outdoor usability, though Xiaomi has not yet shared panel technology specifics.
More notably, the company is highlighting an integrated active cooling system, a feature still relatively uncommon in mainstream smartphones. According to Xiaomi, the internal fan measures 18.1mm and can bring down the deviceâs temperature by up to 10 degrees Celsius within 100 seconds during sustained gaming sessions. The claim, while precise, will likely draw closer scrutiny once the device is in wider use.
Durability appears to be another area of emphasis. The Redmi K90 Max is listed with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, indicating resistance to dust and varying levels of water exposure. The handset also carries an aluminum alloy frame, adding a more industrial finish to its design. So far, promotional material has only shown the device in a âSpace Silverâ colour option.
On the camera side, Xiaomi has confirmed a dual rear setup, though it has stopped short of providing sensor details or imaging capabilities. Much of the hardware profile remains undisclosed ahead of the launch event.
Unconfirmed reports circulating alongside the announcement suggest the device may be powered by a Dimensity 9500 processor and include a D2 discrete graphics chip. Xiaomi has not addressed these claims directly.
The April 21 launch date places the Redmi K90 Max alongside other major smartphone announcements expected the same day in China, setting up a crowded release window. For now, Xiaomi appears to be banking on performance-focused hardware and thermal management to distinguish its latest offering.
