INTERNATIONAL DESK: A prominent Baloch activist who campaigned against missing persons in Balochistan has claimed that a resident of the province has been killed in the custody of the Pakistan Army.

Mama Qadeer, vice chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, shared Wahid’s picture on Twitter, saying that the army had brought his tortured and bullet-ridden body to Awaran Hospital on Thursday.

“Abdul Wahid, a resident of Kolwah in Awaran, has been killed in the custody of the Pak Army. Here in the first photo taken on 9 October 2021, he can be seen in Army custody. His tortured bullet-ridden body has been taken away by the Army to Awaran Hospital. Was brought up yesterday,” Qadir tweeted on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, Baloch Human Rights Council (BHRC) working president Dr Nasir Dashti said that since the annexation of Balochistan by Pakistan in 1948, the history of Baloch is a story of “blood and tears”. He made these remarks at a conference at the Press Club in Geneva.

Talking about the aspects of human rights violations in Balochistan, he said, “One aspect is the Genocide Act, which includes the forced disappearances, the incident where the Pakistani Army and its security agencies, they kill human rights activists, political activists, doctors, etc. , Indian students, teachers, and they keep them a secret for years.” “The families are unaware about the whereabouts of their loved ones,” he added. He said an estimated 4,833 people have gone missing since 2006.

He said there is another aspect of human rights violations called “kill and dump policy”.

Dashti said, “Pakistani security agencies, with the help of their affiliated affiliates, pick up and torture people, and dump their mutilated bodies in deserted areas. And this is a regular affair in Balochistan. “

“Hundreds of students, teachers, political activists, social workers, journalists have been killed in this way. And since 2011 there have been incidents of mass graves in many places and in Balochistan,” he said.

He said that there is another aspect of human rights violation which is “transformation of secular Baloch society into religious fundamentalist society”.

Dashti added, “Thousands of religious schools are sponsored by the Pakistani military where children are taught a very medieval version of the religion and trained to become jihadis or convert humanity to Islam.”

He continued to say that there is another aspect to human rights violations, which is “resource exploitation”. Dashti highlighted that Balochistan is one of the richest regions and Pakistan and China are cooperating, extracting gold, uranium, gas, oil etc.

Dashti said that another aspect of human rights violations is “cultural genocide where foreign languages have been imposed in Balochistan”. In all practical purposes, the Baloch with their religious, fundamentalist and human rights violations and genocide are going under the shadow of the Pakistani Army. acts, he said.

“The time has come for the international community to raise their voice against these brutal military machines in the region,” Dashti said. (ANI)
