The BMW driver, 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu, was taken to a hospital for mandatory testing. He was later arrested at a location in Wahroonga. Police reviewed dashcam footage as part of their investigation.

Papazoglu has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death. He also faces charges of negligent driving occasioning death and causing the loss of a foetus. The driver of the Kia Carnival, a 48-year-old man, was not physically injured.
