The Pakistan Army has killed 30 militants in a series of targeted operations. The action comes days after a deadly clash with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Eleven soldiers, including senior officers, died in that earlier fight. The new operations were conducted in the Orakzai district.

TTP militants

These “retribution operations” targeted the specific TTP cell responsible for the soldier deaths. According to Reuters, the army stated all 30 militants involved in the October 7 attack were “sent to hell.” The government has officially designated the TTP as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”

Operation Details and National Response

The retaliatory strikes were intelligence-based. Security forces launched them in the Jamal Maya area of Orakzai. An intense firefight ensued during the operation. The army confirmed the elimination of the entire militant group.

The nation’s top leadership has praised the security forces. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif honored the soldiers for safeguarding the motherland. President Asif Ali Zardari lauded the courageous operation. The Interior Minister vowed that terrorists would find no hiding place in Pakistan.

Broader Security Context in Pakistan

This incident highlights a severe and ongoing security challenge. Pakistan has witnessed a significant surge in terrorist activity recently. Overall violence in the country jumped by 46 percent in the last quarter.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan remain the epicenters of this violence. These regions suffer the highest number of attacks and fatalities. Security forces and law enforcement personnel are frequent targets. The situation underscores a persistent threat to national stability.

The successful retribution operations mark a significant counter-terrorism achievement for Pakistan. They demonstrate the army’s resolve to respond forcefully to attacks on its personnel. The ongoing fight against TTP militants remains a critical national security priority.
