TVS has quietly expanded its electric scooter range with the introduction of the Orbiter V1, a new entry-level variant designed to make the company’s EV portfolio more accessible to buyers. Positioned below the existing Orbiter model, the new version brings a smaller battery pack and a significantly lower entry price while retaining much of the equipment offered on the larger variant.
The Orbiter V1 runs on a 1.8kWh battery pack that delivers an IDC-certified range of 86km. That figure is notably lower than the 158km IDC range offered by the earlier Orbiter, which is now referred to as the Orbiter V2 and uses a larger 3.1kWh battery.
The reduced battery capacity has had a practical effect on charging times as well. TVS claims the Orbiter V1 can charge from zero to 80 percent in around two hours and twenty minutes. The larger battery on the Orbiter V2 requires roughly four hours and ten minutes to reach the same charge level.
Battery Subscription Option Introduced Across TVS EV Lineup
Aside from the battery size, most of the scooter’s hardware and features appear unchanged from the existing Orbiter platform. The V1 continues to use the same wheel setup, with a 14-inch wheel at the front and a 12-inch unit at the rear.
The scooter retains the LCD instrument cluster, which connects to a mobile application and enables several digital features. These include turn-by-turn navigation, over-the-air software updates, and safety notifications such as anti-theft alerts, crash alerts, and geo-fencing warnings.
Ride assistance features remain part of the package. Riders can switch between Eco and Power modes, and the scooter also offers hill-hold assist, a reverse parking assist function, and cruise control. Storage capacity has also been carried over, including the long 845mm flat seat and 34 litres of underseat storage.
TVS is also expanding its Battery-as-a-Service model across its electric scooter range. Under this system, buyers can subscribe to battery usage rather than paying the full battery cost upfront. Subscription plans begin at Rs 862 per month and are available with tenures of 24, 36, or 60 months.
Unlike some similar subscription schemes offered elsewhere in the market, TVS says the plan does not restrict how far the scooter can be ridden during the subscription period. Customers who purchase the Orbiter V1 through the BaaS option will also receive an extended warranty package covering five years or 70,000km.
The Orbiter V1 carries an ex-showroom price of Rs 84,500 in Delhi, a figure that includes the PM e-Drive subsidy. Buyers choosing the BaaS model can bring the upfront purchase price down to Rs 49,999.
With the introduction of the V1, TVS appears to be pushing its electric lineup toward a broader price range. The new model undercuts the Orbiter V2, which is priced at Rs 99,900, and creates a more accessible starting point for riders considering an electric scooter from the brand.
For buyers weighing entry-level electric mobility, the Orbiter V1 reflects a simple trade-off: shorter range in exchange for a lower upfront cost.
