The TVS Orbiter V1 price has been announced as the company expands its electric scooter lineup in India. TVS Motor introduced the new base variant with a starting price of Rs 49,999 under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.
The launch adds a more affordable entry point to the Orbiter electric scooter family. The new variant uses a smaller battery while retaining many of the key features available on the higher-spec model.
New Base Variant Introduces Lower Entry Price
The Orbiter electric scooter was introduced earlier as part of TVS Motorâs growing electric two-wheeler strategy. The new Orbiter V1 variant sits below the existing V2 model and focuses on reducing the initial purchase cost for buyers.
Under the new ownership structure, customers can buy the scooter without the battery and subscribe to a battery service plan. The Orbiter V1 starts at Rs 49,999 under the BaaS model, while the V2 variant begins at Rs 59,664 with the same structure.
The monthly battery subscription for the V1 begins at Rs 862 depending on the chosen plan duration. Buyers can select from subscription tenures of 24 months, 36 months, or 60 months.
Unlike several rival EV subscription programs, the Orbiter plan allows unlimited kilometres during the subscription period. There are no daily distance limits or usage caps tied to the monthly fee.
The Orbiter V1 also has a conventional purchase option without the subscription structure. In that configuration, the scooter is priced at Rs 92,250 ex-showroom before any subsidies. The higher-spec Orbiter V2 is priced at Rs 1,04,900 ex-showroom.
The new base model uses a 1.8 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed riding range of 86 km on a single charge. Charging from zero to 80 percent takes around two hours and twenty minutes using the supplied charger.
Features Largely Similar To Higher Variant
Even with the lower entry price, the Orbiter V1 keeps most of the equipment available on the V2 version. The scooter continues to offer modern convenience features that have become standard in the segment.
These include LED lighting, cruise control, hill hold assist, and a color LCD instrument display. The display supports Bluetooth connectivity and navigation features for riders.
The V1 variant is offered in two colors. Buyers can choose between Martian Copper and Stellar Silver.
The introduction of the BaaS model represents a shift in how TVS approaches electric vehicle pricing. By separating battery ownership from the scooter itself, the company lowers the upfront purchase cost while spreading battery expenses over time.
This strategy has been used by some EV manufacturers in the past but often with usage restrictions. The Orbiter subscription structure attempts to simplify the process by offering a fixed monthly fee with unlimited usage.
The TVS Orbiter V1 price and subscription plan position the scooter as one of the more accessible electric two-wheelers currently available in the Indian market, particularly for buyers seeking a lower entry cost into EV ownership.
