Banana Ball is getting bigger. The Savannah Bananas announced that two new teams — the Loco Beach Coconuts and the Indianapolis Clowns — will join their roster for the inaugural 2026 Banana Ball Championship League season. The news was revealed during a televised announcement on October 9, setting the stage for an expanded and more competitive season ahead.
The league, known for its high-energy, fan-first approach to baseball, will now feature six teams competing for the first-ever Banana Bowl in 2026. This marks a major milestone for Banana Ball as it transitions from an exhibition showcase into a full-fledged championship league.
Loco Beach Coconuts and Indianapolis Clowns Join Banana Ball Lineup
The two expansion teams — the Loco Beach Coconuts and the Indianapolis Clowns — bring fresh energy and history to the Banana Ball field. Mark Crocco will serve as the head coach for the Coconuts, while two-time World Series champion Shane Victorino will take on the role of primetime coach. “We plan to bring Loco Beach to fans all over the country,” said Jesse Cole, the creator of Banana Ball. “The beach theme will extend from the parking lot to the dugout, and everywhere in between.”
The Indianapolis Clowns, coached by Errick Fox with former MLB star Ryan Howard as primetime coach, pay homage to the Negro League team of the same name from the 1920s. “Banana Ball is all about energy, entertainment, flipping the script — and you know what? That’s exactly what the Negro Leagues brought to the game from day one,” Fox said. “Flash. Innovation. Community and an unconditional love for the game. They were rockstars before the world called ballplayers that.”
The addition of these two teams builds on the league’s existing lineup: the Savannah Bananas, Party Animals, Texas Tailgaters, and Firefighters. All six will compete in the Banana Ball Championship League’s first official season in 2026.
2026 Banana Ball Season: Schedule and Key Dates
The Banana Ball Championship League will launch with a preseason event called the Banana Ball Open from February 26 to April 12, 2026. The regular season will follow, featuring 50 games from April through September. The top three teams from the regular season will face the Banana Ball Open winner to determine who advances to the first-ever Banana Bowl on October 10, 2026.
The kickoff event will be held February 26–28 in Tallahassee, Florida, with three straight days of games. The matchups are already set:
- Feb. 26: Loco Beach Coconuts vs. Firefighters @ Dick Howser Stadium
- Feb. 27: Indianapolis Clowns vs. Party Animals @ Dick Howser Stadium
- Feb. 28: Texas Tailgaters vs. Savannah Bananas @ Doak Campbell Stadium
The 2026 season will take Banana Ball to 75 stadiums across 45 U.S. states, bringing the sport’s unique mix of baseball and entertainment to a wider audience than ever before.
How Fans Can Get Savannah Bananas Tickets
Fans eager to witness the action live can enter a lottery system to secure tickets. The entry period is open now through October 31. The timing of entry does not affect the chances of being selected. Those chosen in the random drawing will then have the opportunity to purchase official tickets for upcoming games.
The Savannah Bananas, once a single exhibition team from Georgia, have grown into one of baseball’s most talked-about entertainment phenomena. Their games — packed with dance routines, fan participation, and rule-breaking fun — regularly draw massive crowds, with over 81,000 fans attending a game at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina, earlier this year.
With two new teams joining the lineup and a coast-to-coast schedule planned, the 2026 Banana Ball season is shaping up to be the league’s most ambitious and entertaining chapter yet.
