Assam: Guwahati To Soon Get Vande Bharat Train Service

INTERNATIONAL DESK: Four years ago, the locally constructed Vande Bharat Express was unveiled as an emblem of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

There are now 10 Vande Bharat Express trains operating on Indian Railways’ high-speed routes between various locations. On February 15, 2019, the inaugural Vande Bharat Express train travelled between New Delhi and Varanasi.

The 7th Vande Bharat Express train in this series runs between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri and was launched on December 30, 2022, by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Stations where the Vande Bharat Express stops on its New Jalpaiguri to Howrah route include Bolpur (Shantiniketan), Malda Town, and Barsoi Jn. The train significantly reduces the amount of time needed to travel between Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri, the entrance to the Northeast.

This train, which serves as a speedier mode of transportation, has excellent patronage, with an average occupancy of 100% since it started running regularly.

In addition, N.F. Railway has planned additional Vande Bharat services from Guwahati that will start operating in the area soon. Many exceptional and aircraft-like travel experiences are available on the Vande Bharat Express.

It has cutting-edge, modern safety features, like the Kavach Train Collision Avoidance System, which was created domestically. Moreover, it offers a Wi-Fi on-demand multimedia feature.

Every coach has a 32″ screen that may be used for infotainment, passenger information, and side-reclining seats. 180-degree rotating chairs are an added bonus for executive coaches.

Vande Bharat Express, a semi-high-speed train, has travel classes similar to those on Shatabdi trains but with better amenities. It can travel at a top speed of 160 kmph.

The MV Ganga Vilas, the world’s longest river cruise, arrived at the Guwahati IWAI Pandu River Front at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, the 42nd day of the voyage. The ship was escorted by SL Subansiri and HPT Ambedkar. It’s a 51-day tour for 32 Swiss visitors.

Pallav Gopal Jha, D.C. of Kamrup Metro; Maninder Singh, Additional Chief Secretary; and A. Selvakumar, Regional Director, Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), among others, welcomed a total of 28 foreign tourists, who relished cultural programmes, such as the colourful folk dance performance by troupes of Karbi and Tiwa communities by the bank of the Brahmaputra, and will visit the nearby Kamakhya temple along with the Assam State Museum tomorrow morning before they leave for their journey to Mayong and further.(TS)
