Actress Elaine Hendrix has shared an emotional update from her hospital bed after being carried out of the Dancing With the Stars ballroom on a stretcher before Tuesday night’s Halloween taping.
In a video posted to Instagram, the 54-year-old Parent Trap star revealed she suffered a painful rib injury that left her unable to move during rehearsal. “Obviously I’m not in the ballroom,” Hendrix said from her hospital bed. “I injured my ribs during ‘Defying Gravity,’ and today they just seized up and I couldn’t move.”
Despite the setback, Hendrix told fans her doctors expect a quick recovery. “They brought me to the hospital, but the doctor said with a day or two of rest, I should be able to continue — and that’s exactly what I want to do,” she said, praising her pro partner Alan Bersten for “holding down the fort.”
Hendrix, who missed the live show but was scored based on rehearsal footage, urged viewers to keep voting for her. “I want to dance, I want to keep doing this… thank you for your support. Please vote for us because I want to see you next week.”
In her caption, she added that she was “devastated” to miss the performance but determined to return: “With your support, I’ll be back in the ballroom next week. I want nothing more.”
