Vivo is beginning to outline what it sees as the defining feature of its upcoming X300 series, with senior company executive Han Boxiao sharing fresh details ahead of an expected unveiling later this month in China. The focus, at least for now, is firmly on imaging.

In posts published on Weibo, Han pointed to a new in-house colour science system, described as âBlueprint Native Color,â which will debut on both the Vivo X300 Ultra and Vivo X300s. The system draws from film aesthetics, aiming to produce images that feel closer to those captured on professional cameras rather than processed smartphone outputs.
According to the executive, the approach prioritises natural light reproduction, particularly in portrait photography. Skin texture is preserved with minimal artificial smoothing, while contrast between brighter and darker areas is handled in a way that maintains visual balance without flattening detail. Sample images shared alongside the announcement suggest a restrained tone, though full evaluation will depend on real-world use.
The company is also leaning into cinematic presentation on the X300 Ultra. Two video modesâFilm Style and Film Lookâhave been confirmed. Film Style uses a 2.4:1 aspect ratio paired with a 24 frames-per-second capture rate, along with motion blur, grain, and halo effects intended to echo traditional filmmaking techniques. Film Look, by contrast, shifts to a 16:9 format at 60 frames per second and introduces a colour treatment built around cyan and orange tones.
Hardware remains a central part of the pitch. The X300 Ultra is expected to carry a 200-megapixel Sony LYT-901 sensor as its primary camera. Vivo has also confirmed that the device will be bundled with a 400mm Zeiss Telephoto Extender Kit, suggesting an emphasis on long-range photography that goes beyond typical smartphone zoom capabilities.
The Vivo X300s, while positioned slightly differently, is not without its own imaging credentials. It will feature a Zeiss-tuned 200-megapixel rear camera system. Beyond the camera, the device is set to include a 7,100mAh battery, a 6.78-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and an Ultrasonic Fingerprint 2.0 system.
Both models are expected to ship with configurations reaching up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Vivo is also preparing to introduce the devices alongside the Pad 6 Pro, pointing to a broader product cycle rather than a single-device launch.
The official announcement is anticipated on March 30 in China. For now, Vivoâs messaging remains tightly focused on imaging identity, an area where differentiation has become increasingly difficult in the premium segment.

As the launch approaches, the company appears to be betting that colour scienceâoften overlooked in marketing narrativesâcan still shift how users perceive mobile photography.
