ZOOMBANGLA DESK: The launching ceremony for a book titled `War and Women’ was held at the serpentine cafetaria of UN building in Geneva on March 24.
All European Freedom Fighter Sangsad and International Forum for Secular Bangladesh jointly organised the launching ceremony of the book written by Dr. MA Hasan.
Tazul Islam, a Bangladeshi veteran freedom fighter based in Zurich, joined the programme as chief guest.
He spoke about the significance of the book, which was a testimony of Bengali women being subjected to atrocities and sexual abuse by Pakistan Army during the 1971 war.
Terming the atrocities as Genocide Tazul Islam urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to take punitive action against Pakistan.
Amin Khshru from Frankfurt, Dr Iqbal Ahmed from Geneva were also present and spoke against Pak Army on genocide in 1971.
Executive members from International NGOs were also present in the book launching ceremony.
Dr. Hasan, author of the book, in a video presentation from Dhaka explained the reality of such abuse committed by Pakistani soldiers.
Lamino, a Human rights defender from Geneva, urged the Human Rights Council to take action against the perpetrators of the genocide.
