Alien: Earth is this week’s must-watch TV show, so make sure you know exactly what time it’s dropping and where it’s streaming with our rundown of its release schedule.
The new series, developed by Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion), takes place two years before Ellen Ripley’s nightmare aboard the Nostromo. This time, a “ragtag group” led by Wendy (Sydney Chandler) investigates a mysterious space vessel that crash-lands on Earth.
According to the synopsis, they come face-to-face with “humanity’s greatest threat.” It isn’t a spoiler to say this includes a Xenomorph, but there are other monstrous creatures on that ship – and corporations with vested interests that will stop at nothing to get ahead of the competition.
With an Alien: Romulus sequel in development and Predator: Badlands coming out this year, you don’t want to miss Alien: Earth – so, here’s what you should know.
Alien: Earth release time
Alien: Earth will premiere on FX, Hulu, and Disney Plus at 5pm PT/8pm ET on August 12.
Unfortunately, if you’re outside the US, this means it probably won’t be available to stream until the early hours of August 13, and it’ll be the same time difference for every episode in the series. You can find your time zone below:
- 9pm Brazil
- 1am UK
- 2am Central European Summer Time
- 3am Eastern European Summer Time

How many episodes of Alien: Earth are there?
There are eight episodes of Alien: Earth. The first two will be released on August 12, and the rest will be released individually and weekly thereafter.
As for whether or not Season 2 is on the table, it looks likely. Speaking to Variety in 2024, FX chief John Landgraf teased: “We’re pretty bullish on Alien: Earth and we’ve told [Hawley] that assuming, as we hope, Alien: Earth is a returning television series, we want him to focus on on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of Fargo.”
Hawley has also described Season 1 as “proof of concept… and if it works commercially, then Season 2 is about building a model upon which we can envision making a Season 3, 4, 5.”
“It’s designed to be a recurring series. I don’t know how many seasons that would be. I believe that endings are what give a story meaning, so I have a sense of where I’m going with it,” he added.

‘Neverland’ is a big hint to what’s going on in the show. No spoilers, don’t worry, but Hawley explained to Den of Geek: “I had this instinct for Peter Pan as a classic metaphor about children growing up. And then when I delved deeper into it and re-read the book, I realized, ‘Oh, this is a horror story.’
“It’s super dark, man. Peter Pan is almost a sociopath. He’s a lost boy who doesn’t want to grow up, but of course, we need to grow up if we’re going to survive on this hot, wet planet.”
